Toward the Future of Metal Research
Join the Zhang Research Group at UC Davis to develop the metallic materials that power a sustainable, high-tech future. We design next-generation alloys for clean energy, aerospace, and extreme-environment technologies, spanning fusion-reactor materials, high-temperature components for efficient propulsion, and advanced metals used in semiconductor and manufacturing systems. Our work combines advanced manufacturing, multiscale mechanical testing, state-of-the-art characterization (TEM, STEM, FIB, neutron scattering), and data-driven materials design to accelerate discovery and performance. Students gain highly transferable skills valued across renewable energy, semiconductor R&D, aerospace, manufacturing industries, as well as national labs.
