Mingwei Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at UC Davis. His teaching and research interests are in the area of mechanical behaviors of metallic structural materials under extreme conditions (high temperature, high stress, ion irradiation, etc.). His research explores these phenomena in a wide variety of metals and metal matrix composites with complex structures and chemistry. His current research focus is on building a platform that combines advanced manufacturing, mechanical testing, characterization, and computation to close the feedback loop for structural materials design and development.
