James Merlo

James Merlo is an M.S. candidate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at UC Davis. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Oregon State University. In parallel with his studies, James works as a Materials and Process Engineer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). His research specializes in physical vapor deposition (PVD) techniques to develop advanced coatings, such as boron carbide (B4C), for inertial confinement fusion targets. Outside of the lab, James enjoys scuba diving and baseball.
